Imphal, April 15: A gun battle broke out between the rival cadres of NSCN (I-M) and NSCN (K) at Old Mandiu under Tousem sub-division of Tamenglong district in the early hours today, reports our correspondent.

However, no casualty has been reported on both the sides.

Notably, including today's incident, gun battle between the two rival factions has been continuing for the last three consecutive days.

As a result, the situation in Tamenglong district is tense.

Meanwhile the publicity in charge of the Zeliangrong region of the NSCN (K) has expressed deep concern over the recent spurt of violence between the two factions and added that during the last few days five cadres have been killed.

This is nothing but internecine warfare, he said and urged the NGOs, the civil society to intervene so that such fratricidal killings stop.
