Father, daughter killed in cold blood by armed goons

Imphal, April 11 2009: SAome unknown armed persons suspected to be members of an underground outfit killed in cold blood a 28 year-old girl along with her 80 year-old father at their own house last night.

In other incidents, two suspected underground cadres were killed by a combined security force in an alleged encounter.

The killing of the father and the daughter took place last night around 10.30 pm at Uyumpok under Lamlai police station in Imphal East district.

The unfortunate incident happened in front of the members of the family in the courtyard of the house, according to the family members.

The deceased girl was identified as Laishram Ibemchaobi (28) and her 80-year old father was Laishram Ibocha.

The deceased old man was the head of a ten member family.

He had three sons and three daughters.

The slain girl was the eldest daughter.

The only son, Ningthem, who resides in Imphal, did not witness the incident of shooting to death of his father and sister.

The family engaged in a sericulture farm raring silk worm, villagers said.

Two suspected undergrounds armed with AK series rifles waked the family members last night by knocking front and back doors of the house and asked all the members to come out of the home.

Eight members of the family went out of the home when they knocked the door hard repeatedly.

Even though eight of them come out of the house, the two assailants asked to come out the aged old father who was still inside the house by the two armed miscreants with a threatened.The miscreants also fired some rounds of guns to the room of the Ibemchaobi and later asked her to give her mobile phone.

When she said she has no mobile, they started beating her up.

The father intervened not beat her daughter.

At that they turned toward the old man and kicked him down.

The daughter once again requested not to do any harm to her father saying that he knows nothing.

When the miscreants hit her with butt of the gun, she shouted with high voice alarming the neighbouring villagers.

After than the miscreants fired about 15 to 16 round of guns toward them hitting the father and daughter with the bullets.

The father was hit by around seven bullet and succumbed at the spot while Ibemchoubi died half an hour later with the bullet injury.

Family said, Ibemchoabi died while trying to evacuate to the hospital and searching for any available vehicle at the village.

Villagers strongly condemned the killing of the aged old man and her daughter in front of their family members terming it as cruelest act.

On the other hand, a combined security forces of Imphal east police commandos and troops f 23 and 36 AR gunned down two militants in what police said during a encounter at Chingnungkhok located some half kilometer on the east side of the Imphal-Ukhrul road this forenoon at around 11 am.

Police said that the encounter took place when the combined team entered to the area for searching the killers of the father and daughter last night after having specific information of taking shelter there.

When the combined team reached Chingnungkhong, on seeing some youths moving in suspected manner asked to stop for police checking.

Instead of stopping, the two youths attempted to run away by firing towards the security forces.

Immediately, the combined force retaliated resulting in the killing of the youths suspected to be cadres of KCP, police said.

Police recovered a carbine loaded with five rounds of ammunitions a 9mm pistol loaded with four live rounds and one hand grenade.

Eight empty cases were also recovered from the spot where the two dead bodies were found lying, police said.

Later today, identity of one of the slain youth was established as Ningombam Openjit (35) son of N Tomba hailing from Ningomthong Kitna Panung.

He was earlier arrested by the police on the charge of being a KCP cadre.

However, the identity of the other killed along with him could not establish till late this evening.
