Imphal, December 27 2008: THE SECURITY lapse of the government of Manipur was once again exposed when a hand grenade was found in the 'high security zone' Manipur Legislative Assembly complex on Saturday morning.

The bomb was found by one of the security personnel at about 8:30 near the Assembly canteen.

On getting information of the incident, the Manipur bomb squad and officials of the Assembly including police officials rushed to the spot.

And though a search was made in the surrounding by the security personnel for more bombs in the area, none was found.

This incident, while exposing the security lapse of the state, has once again made security a matter of great concern in the state.

Some months back a grenade was lobbed in the Manipur assembly by some militants.

It is worth mentioning here that the Manipur Raj Bhavan, the official resident of the Governor, came under bomb attack carried out by KCP-MC on December 21.Prior to these cases there had been bomb attacks at the official residence of the state Chief Minister sometimes back.
