Imphal, September 21: The identity of the individual who was shot dead by the combined force of Imphal East Police Commandos and 32 Assam Rifles during an alleged encounter which took place on the night of September 18 at Keirao Bitra under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district has been established.

He was one Khunumayum Inao alias Joykumar alias Sanathoi (23) s/o Sapro of Andro Chingdong.

According to family members who identified the body at RIMS morgue today, Inao had been picked up from home by some security personnel in civvies suspected to be personnel of 32 AR at around 6.30 pm of September 16 .

The family members also claimed that Inao as an innocent person.

His body has not yet been taken and it is still lying at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital.
