Imphal, July 19: A patrol party of the 88 Bn Border Security Force (BSF) stationed at Thoubal Kshetri Leikai detected powerful improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at near Wangkhem village along the Thoubal-Yairipok road which was disposed off by the bomb disposal squad of the BSF today.

According to a statement issued by the Comman-dant 88 Bn BSF, the patrol party was deployed specifically to scan near-by areas of Wangkhem village following infor-mation of UG suspects having planted explosive devices.

About 2 kms from CI post Kshetri leikai the patrol party detected a flexible wire leading to two powerful IEDs weighing 3.5 kgs each which were subsequently disposed off, the statement added.

This road is largely used by civil/school buses in the early hours daily, the Commandant maintained.
