Imphal, February 15, 2010: The proscribed RPF has clarified that the three persons slain by troops of 12 Assam Rifles at Nambasi village of Ukhrul district on February 11 morning have no relationship with the RPF or its armed wing PLA.

Reacting to a statement of PRO IGAR (S) claiming that the three slain belong to the PLA, an RPF release issued by its Department of Publicity chief GM Changjou dismissed the PRO's claim as fictitious and customary contention of the Assam Rifles.

The three are neither related to the RPF/PLA nor was there any encounter involving PLA cadres and troops of the para-military on that particular morning, maintained Changjou adding that in the past too the PRO had indulged in such misleading campaigns.

The outfit's publicity chief further contended that reports have been received about AR troops harassing innocent persons both from the hills and valley, who could not produce identification documents or 'pass' issued by AR officials.

Those individuals who do not possess the 'pass' are branded as UGs after being slain in fake encounters, alleged the RPF release and expressed sorrow that villagers could not venture out beyond their villages for fear of being killed.

parents with young daughters are suffering untold mental distress with the fear that the innocent girls may fall prey to devilish acts of the security force, the RPF tirade against the AR continued adding that small time traders are facing similar situation when travelling along the Imphal-Moreh route.

Changjou further alleged that when bodies of victims are handed over to the police hardly any weapons are handed over thereby clearly indicating that the victims have been eliminated in fake encounters.
