The Sangai Express, July 06 2009: Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) condemned the police action meted out to the rallyist who tried to throng Sajiwa Jail demanding 'mass arrest'.

The students' body organised the rally to surrender themselves to the Sajiwa Jail authority in protest against the detention of student leaders in the jail in connection with the murder of MU Proctor Prof Md Islamuddin.

Maintaining that the people's democratic agitation which is being staged at every nook and corner of the State demanding release of the arrested students has completed 40 days, DESAM asserted that the students body would be compelled to initiate violent form of demonstration if the Government fails to respond positively to the wishes of the masses.
