Human trafficking accused summoned

Imphal, October 01: In a drive to thwart anti social activities like human trafficking, various organisations ranging from student community to human rights body in Tamenglong district have today come out with strong resentment over such crime and summoned 21 persons who are allegedly involved in human trafficking.

A joint statement of All Zeliangrong Student's Union (ANM), Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur and Naga People's Movement for Human Rights, condemning the recent trafficking of young girls to Singapore, Malaysia and other countries has expressed shock over the alleged involvement of respectable personalities from different religious groups, senior citizens etc and lamented that concerned society as a whole should play a constructive role to investigate into such crime and rescue the victims.

Informing all the 21 persons allegedly involved in such crime to appear at 10 am of October 12 at Tarung Community Hall, Tarung Langol to clarify their acts, the statement has urged of considering as guilty for those who fail to turn up and befitting punishment would be awarded to them, it further urged.
