Imphal, January 29: Gunmen attacked the house of MLA Govindas Konthoujam late last night, according to a police source.

The private house of MLA Govindas Konthoujam of the Bishnupur A/C came under attack from unknown armed men last night at around 11.30, according to an official source.

No casualties have been reported however, and the MLA was not present at the time of the attack, the source added.

Several rounds of gun-shots have been fired towards the residence of Govindas Konthoujam.

A police team after learning the attack, carried out a search operation in and around the locality and recovered two live rounds of ammunition and five empty cases of AK-47 rifle ammunition, according to the source.

No arrest has been made so far.

Meanwhile, a Chinese made hand grenade which was hurled in a hotel located at Hatta in Imphal East by unidentified miscreants last night at around 6 missed to explode.

The bomb was later retrieved by the Imphal East police commandos, an official source said.
