Bomb threat

Imphal, April 21 2009: In connection with monetary demand, unidentified armed persons reportedly placed a bomb at the Porompat Kongkham Leikai residence of Dr S Kumar who is the managing director of S Kumar ACS Hospital located at Porompat yesterday .

The bomb was detected at around 7.35 am yesterday.

However, as no complaint had been lodged from the side of the family members, the bomb was retrieved by the police only today.

According to family members, the Hospital had received a demand letter of Rs 25 lakhs signed by Lamyanba Khuman of KCP (Military Council) on April 17 .

But two unidentified armed persons unexpectedly came to the house in the morning yesterday and left the bomb placed inside a black plastic bag.

The family members have also been threaten not to inform anyone about the bomb otherwise they would be killed.

As a result, the family members dared not approached the police.

However, after the police sources got tip off about the bomb, personnel of the Imphal East District Police arrived today morning at around 10.30 am and retrieved the bomb which was later on detonated successfully.
