Imphal, May 13: The identity of the man shot dead by a combined team of Imphal East commandos and troops of 32 Assam Rifles in a reported encounter at Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai last night has been established.

The deceased is one Kangjam Romesh alias Inaobi (32) of Okram Chuthek Makha Kitna Panung.

According to family members, Romesh was a Nat Sankritan artiste although he was arrested by security forces on two occasions earlier.

The corpse has been handed over to family members after post mortem today.

One found dead: One man with non-local appearance was found dead at the verandah of INA High School, Kwakta under Moirang police station last night.

Police have retrieved the corpse this morning and deposited at RIMS mortuary for identification.
