Imphal, May 31 2009: While condemning the killing of MU Proctor Prof Md Islamuddin, the All Manipur Students' Parents Association has appealed for release of the students arrested by police in the aftermath of Prof Islamuddin's murder.

It also appealed to all concerned not call bandh.

Speaking to media persons at its Palace Compound office this afternoon, president of the All Manipur Students' Parents Association, L Chaoba observed that the untimely death of Prof Islamuddin would be irreparable loss to many students.

Taking strong exception to the arrest of students in the aftermath of the Professor's killing, Chaoba observed that arrest of students has jeopardised academic atmosphere.

Asserting that releasing the arrested students without any condition would be the correct step, he appealed to the concerned student bodies to withdraw their decision to call state-wide bandh against the arrest of students considering the fact that Manipur was one of the most backward State in India economically.
