Imphal, July 27: A one-day conference on the present problems of the indigenous communities of the State and possible solution was held under the auspices of League of the Fourth World People, North Eastern Region of India at State Youth Centre, Khuman Lampak here today.

After a detailed discussion on the present problems besetting the State, the congregation unanimously arrived at three resolutions.

In view of the difficulties being faced by the people both in the hill and valley districts, the conference resolved to exert pressures on the State Govt and the ANSAM for bringing about an amicable solution to end the ongoing economic blockade along the National Highways.

Taking serious note present crisis and the sensitiveness of the issue, the conference fervently appealed to all the individuals and public leaders to restrain from making any statement that might aggravate the situation.

The conference also resolved to extend co-operation among leaders of various organisations to diffuse the existing tension among the hill and valley people following lack of proper communication channel between them.

Prongo Keishing and H Thambaljao Chothe were chief guest and president respectively at the occasion while Wangkhemcha Chingtamlen was the moderator.

Representatives of various indigenous communities participated in the conference.

Attended by around 500 womenfolks, the Wakat Meepham was held from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm and discussed various issues confronting the State and urged the public leaders to bring about unity among themselves.

The meeting strongly felt that the leaders should stay away from public life if they dont want to work together in the interest of the people.

Denouncing any attempt to create disharmony in the society, the Wakat Meepham also appealed to call off the economic blockade being imposed by ANSAM along the two National Highways of the State immediately.
