Wangbal Killing decried, stir lined up

Imphal, July 12: Contradicting the police claim in connection with killing of a suspected KCP cadre and recovering a revolver loaded with three bullets after an encounter near the Agriculture Office at Wangbal at around 12.45 pm on July 11, the family members have said that slain person was innocent and he had been picked up by a Commandos team from Thoubal.

Meanwhile, the JAC formed in protest of the killing warned of launching various intense agitation raising the demand for punishment of the Commandos involved in the incident.

The slain person has been identified as Moirangmayum Ibomcha (25) s/o late Samu of Ingourok Awang Leikai, but staying at the material home of his wife at Heirok Part-II Dhakarou.

He was a married man having three kids.Talking to mediapersons in-connection with his killing at Manipur Press Club here today, his wife Indira on June 10, she had gone along with her husband in a Honda Activa borrowed from a friend for her medical check up at Romita Clinic, Thoubal.

As they returned home late, the next day, her husband had gone to return the borrowed Honda Acfiva to the friend.

He had also taken RS 20,000/along with him to repay the mohey borrowed from one Moirangthem Maichal, a local brother.

The amount had been borrowed from his grand father who is the headmaster of Heirok Part-II Chingdompok Primary School.

However, on the way he had been picked up by a team of Thoubal Police Commandos and later shot him dead.

At the time of recovering the body, the money he had carried was not in his possession, Indira said.

N Iboyaima, who was also present at the occasion, informed that the local Meira Paibis had come to lodge a complaint with the Chief Minister 0 Ibobi Singh in connection with the killing.

However, they were prevented from meeting the Chief Minister by the security personnel.

So in case the Government fails to give a positive response on the demand of punishing the involved Police commandos, payment necessary gratia to the bereaved family , members before solemnisation of the Mangani Leihun Tamba ritual and provide a suitable Government job to one of the family members at the earliest possible, the JAC would be constraint to launch a of agitation, he announced.

The body of Ibomcha, however,has been taken over for performing necessary last rites, the convenor added.

Decrying the police claim that Ibomcha was a KCP cadre and armed had been recovered from his possession, the JAC has also appealed to the organisation concern to come out with an explanation in this regard.
