Imphal, May 06 2010: Many civil organisations and student bodies have lauded the stance adopted by the State Government with regard to the proposed visit of NSCN (IM) General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah to Manipur as justified and demanded.

While hailing the State Government's stand, the All Assam Manipuri Students' Union has called upon the people of Nagaland to allow passage Manipur bound vehicles through Nagaland.

Otherwise, the Union would be constrained to block vehicles heading for Nagaland in Assam region, it said in a press release.

Taking serious note of Muivah's attempt to come to Manipur, the Muslim Students' Union of Manipur (MSUM) has pledged all-out support to any movement aimed at thwarting the Naga rebel's attempt.

The MSUM is prepared to join any movement that may be launched by the AMUCO, UCM, HERICOUN etc.

Stating that the clearance given by the Government of India to Muivah to visit Manipur is a conspiracy to divide people of Manipur on ethnic lines, the MSUM strongly condemned this attitude of the Government of India.

The United Muslims Council Manipur (India) observed that the State Government is opposed to Muivah visiting Manipur because of his activities and intentions.

Acknowledging the State Government's decision to bar Muivah from entering Manipur as reasonable and justified, the United Muslims Council Manipur appealed to all not to do anything that may lead to conflagration among different communities of the hills and valley.

A press release issued by the Sharmila Kanba Lup expressed surprise at the audacity of the Union Home Ministry to ask the State Government to provide security escorts to Th Muivah during his trip to Manipur where the cease-fire pact between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) is not in force.

The Lup also condemned the alleged conspiracy hatched by the Government of India to disintegrate Manipur.

It appealed to all organisations and representatives to stand firm on their position.
