Bomb found at NH 150 in Bishnupur district

Imphal, May 05 2009: Following detection of a powerful bomb planted by unidentified armed persons along National Highway 150 at a spot in between Toupokpi and Upokpi in Bishnupur district, traffic movement along the said route was suspended for sometime today morning.

According to police report, the bomb which was found planted near a culvert on the road side was detected by a patrolling team of 4/8 Gorkha Rifles at around 5.30 am today and the sniffer dog confirmed it.

At around 8 am, bomb experts of the Army arrived and removed the explosive safely and later detonated safely at a nearby area.

After successful detonation of the explosive, traffic movement along the said route was also resumed.

On the other hand, an unexploded bomb suspected to be part of the recent Operation Summer Strom of the Army was reportedly found lying along the dyke of a fish farm at Keibul Chingmei Natal today afternoon.

According to information received by the press, police have been informed about the finding.

But there is no report of police coming to retrieved the same till late evening.
