Shillong, June 04 2010: There has been "significant progress" in the peace talks held between the Centre and the NSCN(IM) in Nagaland and the outfit has been invited for the next round of parleys in Delhi, Union Home Secretary G K Pillai said here.

"The talks have progressed well.

The other day interlocutor RS Pandey and Mr Muivah met in Kohima.

Thereafter they have issued a press statement.

I do not need to say more, because they are the ones who are directly involved," Pillai told PTI here.

"I think significant progress has been made in this round of talks," he said, adding, "Mr Muivah has been requested to come forward for further talks".

The Centre and the NSCN(IM) had on June 1 held peace talks for the first time in Nagaland where the contentious issue of integration of Naga-inhabited areas, as demanded by the outfit, came up.

A 12-member NSCN(IM) team led by its general secretary T Muivah who participated in the nearly three-hour long talks acknowledged the difficulties of the Centre in certain areas on the Naga issue.
