Imphal, July 30: A bomb recovered from a culvert at near Kakching Lamkhai along the National Highway 39 has been safely exploded by police bomb experts today.

Nearby residents, who detected the explosive device at around 6 am reported the matter to Kakching police station and soon after arrived at the spot with troops of 21 Assam Rifle to cordon off the area resulting in momentary stoppage of traffic along the highway stretch.

According to sources, some unidentified persons who came in a Maruti Van in the early hours today left the explosive device under the culvert which is about 200 metres from a petrol pump.

After removing the bomb the same was exploded by the experts at Kumuda hillock near Kakching Khunou at around 10 am.
