Imphal, November 26: Reacting to the press statement made by the Joint Action Committee formed in connection with the grenade blast in the Videocon House, Paona market on November 16 concerning discharge of a blast victim from RIMS, the RIMS authority has dismissed the allegations levelled against the doctors on duty on that day in the Emergency department of RIMS.

A press release issued by RIMS media advisor maintained that Irungbam Devan had never sustained "severe" splinter injuries.

It pointed out that he had come to the Emergency Department on the day of blast.

Besides he had come three days later, that is, on Sunday.

While the more seriously wounded one was being attended to he was sitting in a bench on the day of blast.

Since his injuries were not severe he was not advised to lay down on bed even.

He had two splinter injuries on the calf and thigh.

The splinter from the calf was removed the same day.

However he was advised to come along with another X-ray for removal of the splinter lodged in the deep wound at the thigh.

There was no question of discharging him by the doctors since he was never admitted in the ward, it clarified.

The splinters in the back of his son were removed.

However tiny particles could remain for some days without causing complications and these could be removed later.

There was no question of "discriminatory" or "casual" treatment to the injured persons, the RIMS media advisor said while regretting that an attempt was made to malign the good names of the doctors who were discharging their duty with dedication and sincerity.
