Imphal, May 26: A suspected underground activist was reportedly shot dead during an encounter with a combined force of Imphal East Police Commandos and 32 AR at Meijrao under Irilbung Police Station at around 10.30 pm yesterday.

Accordingly to police report, the combined force rushed in to the area on receipt of specific information about the presence of some under-ground activists in the area.

The UG suspect was shot dead in the ensuing encounter.

One 9 mm pistol loaded with four live rounds of ammunition and a letter head of the armed outfit PULF have been recovered from the possession of the slain UG suspect whose identity is yet to be established, the police report added.

Meanwhile, police have picked up body and deposited at the mortuary of RIMS Hospital here for identification and post-mortem.
