Imphal, October 20 2008: Decrying the firing incident as well as the destruction caused to two power transformers of the locality by unidentified gunmen last night, Meira Paibis of Leimapokpam Awang Leikai under Nambol Police Station today staged a Wakat Meepham.

Talking to mediapersons on the sideline of the protest demonstration, secretary of Leimapokpam Awang Leikai Koirel Leima Development Association N Ibeyaima informed that besides opening several rounds of fire, the unidentified gunmen also tried to blast one of the transformers by planting a bomb while the other transformer was set on fire by using a gas cylinder.

Demanding to know the identity of the persons and the group responsible for the last night's incident, Ibeyaima questioned how the public are going to survive in the face of constant firing attacks and intimidation.
