Imphal, September 20: Claiming responsibility over the killing of K Chawang, an alleged cadre cum informer secretary of NSCN(IM) Zeliangrong region, GPRN, the United Naga People's Council (UNPC) today maintained that the slain cadre had been indulging in anti-social activities.

The statement of UNPC reiterated that K Chawang, besides spreading false propaganda that one of his colleagues, Pouning Khapur, cadre of NSCN(IM) was pulled up by the security force on July 12 in collusion with UNPC, he had also spread a false news in the month of May that cadres of UNPC had grabbed Rs 3 lakhs in the name of KCP(MC).

While maintaining that UNPC stands for united hill and the valley people, the outfit said, it would not allow any reference made by NSCN(IM) in matters of developmental works.

While urging Naga organisations not to carry out any form of protest against the killing of Chawang, UNPC stated that such capital punishment had been necessitated after due consideration at the high level of the outfit.
