Imphal, July 17: Alleging that the person shot dead by a combined team of Imphal West police commandos and 12 MLI yesterday at about 9.30 pm at Hiyangthang Tarahei Khul under Wangoi police station was an innocent man, people of Lilong Mairenkhun today blocked NH-39 near Lilong Ushoipokpi by placing burning tyres and tree branches on the road.

Identified as Md Abdul Latif of Lilong Mairenkhun, family members alleged that the deceased was a driver of a Tata Magic that plied between Imphal and Lilong.

Demanding action against the police commandos, a JAC Against the Killing of Md Abdul Latif, Lilong Mairenkhun was also formed today.
