Imphal, October 14 2008: The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Manipur State Branch has deplored the frequent firing attacks at the residences of Dr TYBabu Singh and Dr M Birkumar Sharma and others in the recent past.

In a statement, State secretary of the Association Dr A Vivekananda Singh said that these terror tactics willdemoralize the doctors and cause negative attitude to the patients and public who expects the doctors to practice the profession withmissionary zeal, yet tolerate such humiliation and acts of terrorism against the doctors.

In view of of such inci dents and disturbances at the residences and health-care centres , the Association also urged Goverment of Manipur to enact an appropriate Act in the lines of those in AndhraPradesh, Rajasthan and other states prohibiting acts of violence causing injury or danger to lives Medicare service personnel.
