Imphal, April 14: Refuting the claim of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh that Somorendro was a KYKL cadre who had been wanted by the police for a long time, the JAC formed in protest against the killing of Somorendro has today asserted that he was killed by police commandos in a fake encounter.

Nameirakpam Somorendro (22) s/o Sajor of Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai was shot dead during an alleged encounter with the Imphal West Police Commandos on the night of April 12 at Kangjabi Leirak.

The JAC, however, asserted that Somorendro had gone out from his house in the morning of April 12 to get some money from his fiancee at Khurai but was killed by the police commandos in a fake encounter on the night of the same day.

The talks between the CM and the JAC held today on the issue also remained inconclusive.
