Vehicles arrive from NH 39 too

Imphal, July 01 2010: For the first time after suspension of the blockade, equivalent number of vehicles including oil tankers reached Imphal along NH 39 and NH 53 today.

According to a police source, 74 loaded trucks crossed Mao Gate for Imphal this afternoon.

Out of these, 20 trucks went past Sekmai in the evening.

On the other hand, 48 empty trucks left Imphal along NH 39 to ferry goods from outside the State.

A late report informed that four oil tankers coming along NH 39 have reached Mantripukhri.

The convoy of vehicles travelling along NH 39 included some passenger buses.

73 other loaded trucks arrived at Imphal through NH 53 .

These trucks were part of the convoy of 400 trucks which left Jiribam for Imphal on June 29 .

50 other trucks including three oil tankers and LPG bullet (bulk) carriers have also left Jiribam for Imphal this afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Zeliangrong Students' Union, Barak Valley has appealed to shopkeepers and hotel owners doing business along NH 53 not to sell goods including food items to stranded transporters and passengers at inappropriate prices, reports our Jiribam correspondent.

The student body appealed to all concerned not to take undue advantage of the situation or sell goods at unreasonable prices.
