Imphal, April 25 2009: The proscribed PREPAK has denounced the alleged killing of one Ngairangbam Surjit alias Loya (32) s/o N Nipamacha of Wabagai Hiyanglam after subjecting him to severe torture on April 23 .

A press release issued by Aheiba Angom of the outfit's department of publicity and propaganda clarified that Surjit had already retired from the outfit after he was arrested by security forces and spent in jail for a long time.

Surjit was picked up by a team of seven commandos of whom three were in uniform while four others wore plain clothes from the home of his aunt (father's sister) Wahengbam Ibemcha w/o Naba located at Moirang Panshang Leikai at about 11 pm of April 18 .

Contending that Surjit was not killed in encounter but died due to prolonged torture for almost five days, the outfit alleged that police commandos pumped in bullets to the lifeless body of Surjit to claim that he was killed in a shoot-out.

The police commandos also kept a gun near the corpse only to say that a gun has also been recovered.

Surjit was done to death after their intention of extracting some money from his family was belied, alleged the outfit.

Police have claimed that N Surjit alias Loya was killed in encounter with a combined force of Bishnupur police commandos and troops of 4/8 GR at about 5.10 pm of April 23 at Sadu Khoiroi hillock within Loktak lake.
