CM asks JAC hard evidence

Imphal, March 22 2009: State Chief Minister, O Ibobi has asked the JAC formed in connection with the killing of Moirangthem Inao of Pourabi, imphal east to provide hard evidence to prove that Inao was an innocent so that government can provide ex-gratia grant to the family of the decease even as the dead body has been accepted by the JAC today.

The dead body was taken by the JAC for performing the last rites by the family after talks were held between the representatives of the JAC and Chief Minister, O Ibobi at the later official bungalow today.

During the meeting, the chief minister agreed to provide some amount from the chief minister's relief fund as well as from local MLA's fund before the sharda ceremony of the deceased and provision of a government job to a member of the victim's family.

However, Chief Minister rejected the claim of the JAC that Inao was an innocent and not related with any undergrounds.

He assured of providing ex-gratia relief to the family if the JAC claimed his innocent with hard evidence, informed the JAC today.

Mention may be made that, Inao was killed by a combined force of police commandos and troops of Maratha Li at a place under Wangoi police station on March 18 in a follow up action to the killing of a lieutenant of the Maratha Li and injuring to another jawan in an ambush laid by the PREPAK Red Army a day before.While stating that police charged him of being a PREPAK cadre, the JAC has appealed the outfit to make a clarification whether Inao was their cadre or not at the earliest.After the agreement was brought about, the dead body of Inao has been taken by the family for performing his last rites today.
