Imphal, September 19: Identities of all the three persons shot dead by Imphal West district police commandos at a Thangal Bazar lane (gully) last evening have been established and the body handed over to respective families after the post mortem at RIMS morgue today.

The deceased include Oinam Yaiphaba alias Yai (26) s/o O Kerani of Oinam Thingel, Elangbam Momo alias Johnson (23) s/o E Khongnem and Saikhom Somorendro alias Musuk (23) s/o S Tomba of Leishangthem Leikai all under Singjamei police station.

As per comments of family members, Yaiphaba left for the market place to purchase motor (Scooty) parts, Somorendro left home along with Momo for purchasing medicines.

The families also contended that all three are innocent civilians contrary to police report that they were gunned in evasive action as they tried to lob a hand-grenade.
