Imphal, June 16, 2010: The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur(ATSUM), today called for ending the economic blockade, expressing deep concern on the deadlock between the All Naga Students' Association Manipur (ANSAM), United Naga Council (UNC) on one side and State and Central governments on the other side.

A statement of the body signed by its spokesperson, Joseph R Hmar also drew the attention of the state government for initiating dialogue with the agitators to address the blockade and the District Council issue for finding an amicable solution.

"It is unfortunate that the reason of the agitation seems to be sidetracked and that now the agitation had become the main issue and not the issue for which that agitation was launched", the statement asserted.

The ATSUM also demanded a white paper on the commitment of Chief Minister to amend the Autonomous Districts (Hills) Council (3rd Amendment) Act 2008.It also flayed the declaration of two leaders of ANSAM and UNC as wanted and urged the government to revoke the wanted tag on them.
