Imphal, July 15: Mortal remains of the two Kuki youths slain by police commandos and BSF personnel on July 11 at sanjenbam Chingthak in Imphal east district have been laid to rest at their respective birth places today.

Attended by a large number of mourners including representatives of social and student organisations and family members, the last rites of Thangtinsei Haokip (31) of Saikul sub-division in Senapati district and Bertneo hangsing alias limlinbert (22) from new lambulane were performed amid tearful scenes.

It may be mentioned that a JAC formed in connection with the alleged extra-judicial killing of the two had enforced a State wide general strike on July 13 in protest before the body was dissolved after an agreement in consonance with 'customary law' of the Kuki tribe was reached with the State Government yesterday.
