'Muivah is coming to spew communal venom in state'

Imphal, May 14 2010: The Centre gave permission to NSCN (IM) general secretary Thuigalen Muivah to spew communal venom to the people of the state said Manipur Students Guardians' Organisation (MSGO) today even as staging of sit-in demonstration in support of government stand not to allow Th Muivah entering the state continued in various places.

Briefing to reporters today at its office at Palace compound, advisor of the MSGO, Rev Y Rehang Chothe said leader of a faction of the NSCN (IM) responsible for the mass killing of Kukis and for the June 18 Uprising of 2001 when the cease fire extended in the state is an enemy of the people of the state.

Giving permission to a rebel leader who is wanted in Manipur by the Government of India without prior consultation and consent of the state government is amount to create communal disharmony to the state where many ethnic groups are settle together since time immemorial, Chothe said.

The Centre decision to allow Muivah to visit in the state was amidst the woes facing by the people due to the prolong imposition of economic blockade on the national highways by ANSAM in protest against the conduct of elections to ADC under the existing Act that govern the ADCs in hill districts.

Owing to prolong imposition of the economic blockade, the state is facing scarcity of petroleum products which also resulted in the closure of the educational institutions as school service vehicles could not get fuel.

The result that might be coming up if the economic blockade be continued is need to be considered and considering this, responsible groups should immediately withdraw the blockade, he demanded.

Advisor, N Tomba who also took part in the briefing condemned the government of Nagaland for indirectly supporting the NCSN (IM) is harassing the people of Manipur.

Manipur government need face all challenges ahead of the state.

When the people in the valley area launched counter economic blockade, the situation is reaching its climax as food scarcity has already started facing in the hill areas too.

Government should deal the situation and end at earliest before the situation is worsening, he urged.

On the other hand, protesting against the visit of Muivah in the state and supporting to the government decision to ban him from entering the state, many organisations and womenfolk continued staging sit-in demonstration at various places.

The sit-in demonstrations were staged at Ningomthongjao, Yaiskul, Moirangkhom, Singjamei Bazar in Imphal areas.

The same was also carried out by the volunteers of People Welfare Forum at Thoubal Okram Chuthek.

Volunteers of All Manipur Youth Protection Committee, Ningol Yaipha Lamjing Apunba Lup, apunba Kangleipak and Okram Mahila Mandal also took part in the demonstration.
