Tamenglong people in the limit of woes

Tamenglong, May 13 2010: Due to prolonged economic blockade, bandh and strike in the state, stocks of essential commodities deminishing day by day in Tamenglong district.

Acute shortage of no food item in shops, markets or in government FCS godown were emptied.

The All Naga Student Association Manipur and JAC against ADC Election under Unwanted District Council Act had imposed indefinite economic blockade on NH 39 and NH 53 since last month.

With stocks are running out for past weeks the businessmen brought rice from Nagaland via Tamei IT road.

reports said that the Mera paibis has banned lifting of essential commodities from Imphal and Jiribam to Tamenglong district.

Mera Paibis open many gates on NH 53 at Khumbong area, in Imphal and remained vigil some places at Jiribam day and night to check transporting of essential items in the district.

Apart from shortage of essential commodities in Tamenglong, black out of electric and total collapsed of lone BSNL telecom service hampered the lives of people of the district.

According to the source available here at Tamenglong Telephone exchange Tamenglong BSNL media was failed frequently for past months due to transmission route failure in Eastern Telecom Region in shillong.

Staff stationed at Tamenglong exchange has nothing to deal with media except report and verified at end links, TTA told the reporter.

Media was failed completely since 7 May 2010 due to shutdown of Vaitum Khullen Repeater due to prolonged non availability of electric and lack of diesel (fuel) for generator.

The fuel supplier M/S Honka & Sons also running out stocks, the report said.

In the meantime, in view of the acute shortage of essential commodities in Tamenglong the 11 Assam Rifles yesterday extended humanitarian to the helpless parentless children of Zeme Naga through Zeme Pui Baudi Tamenglong.

The Friends of the Hills People of 11 Assam Rifles donates ten kilograms each of rice and ata to the helpless children, informed the adjutant to the reporter today.

On the other hand the newly formed Committee on Political Affairs, COPA Tamenglong district in a press released conveyed that there is no need fear of starvation stating that the COPA is trying their level best to provide food staffs to the people.
