Imphal, April 13: The arrest warrants issued against top functionaries of NSCN (IM) in connection with the kidnap and murder of Moheni Martin and hrinii Hubert is merely a cover-up exercise by the Government of Manipur, rubbished the United Committee Manipur.

In a statement issued by its information and public relation secretary BM Yaima Shah, UCM said previous instances of freeing NSCN (IM) leadership after being arrested is enough evidence of weaknesses of the State Government and under no circumstance could the present Government shake off that complex.

Referring to the recent report of the rebel group's leaders, against whom the warrants were issued, dismissing the official arrest notice, UCM opined that no more evidence is required to conclude that clout of NSCN (IM) is making existence of the State Government miserable.

Suggesting that mere lip service could no longer convince the people of the Government's commitment to uphold interest of the State people or protect its boundaries, UCM also accused the Government of failure to protect lives of the citizen from everyday killings and nefarious activities.
