Imphal, October 08 2009: Unidentified armed persons reportedly opened fire on an agent of the private business networking company Amway last night.

Luckily, the bullet missed him and hit his car.

48-year old Chongtham Rajen was returning to his Tera Moirang Hanuba Maning Lairak residence at around 7.45 pm yesterday, when the unidentified armed persons opened fire at him near the gate.

According to Rajen, he was coming home driving in his Maruti Baleno (MN-01K/8287) when a white colour Maruti car with three occupants including a fellow wearing half pant was stationing near the gate almost blocking his way.

He used the headlights of his car to signal for going ahead and was about to drive in inside the gate when one of the armed persons opened fire at him.

Luckily the bullet missed him and hit on the rear door of his car.

Rajen clarified that he had not received any monetary demand from any UG groups nor has enmity with anyone.

His family members also appealed to all concerned to come out with a clarification on the attack.

Meanwhile, along with registering a case, Lamphel PS has started investigating into the incident.
