Imphal, June 06 2009: Kangjam Dimarjit, a personnel of the 3rd IRB who surrendered to the police and has been in police detention in connection with the killing of Prof Md Islamuddin of Manipur University was today produced before the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal and later detained him under National Security Act.

Charging with involvement in the killing of Prof Islamuddin, police detained 30-year old Kangjam Dimarjit since May 21.Amid tight security, Dimarjit was produced in the court of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal in the afternoon before being further detained under the National Security Act.

With him, the number of persons detained under NSA in connection with the incident has reached six.
