Imphal, September 27 2010: The District Chiefs and Public Grievances Forum, Chandel has been re-christened as Tribal Chiefs and Public Grievances Forum in accordance with a decision adopted in a conclave meeting held on September 23 at H Kotlenphai village, conveyed a press release issued by the Forum's president RD Thungkhel.

To uphold and safeguard tribal rights, land and identity, the Forum decided to take stern action against any group/individual selling/leasing our tribal land under any circumstances.

The forum also agreed on constitution of an executive committee comprising of 34 members drawn from different units/tribes including Anal, Aimol, Chothe, Kukis, Lamkang, Maring, Moyon, Monsang, Tarao and Zou.

The meeting resolved to stand against the Cabinet decision of the State Government to hand over all district level schemes to the ADC.

Taking strong exception to non-implementation of long pending schemes of MGNREGS, BRGF, MOBC, etc in Chandel district, the meeting decided to urge the Chandel DC to release the fund for the said schemes at the earliest.
