UG suspect bodies disposed

Imphal, February 26 2009: Of the UG suspects slain by security forces in different incidents of reported encounters, identity of one has been established while three others have been disposed off unidentified.

The identity of the KCP (MC) suspect shot dead by a combined force of Imphal East commandos and troops of 28 AR at Tham-balkhong Sabal Leikai last night has been established as Yumnam Rakesh (24) s/o late Paka of Lilong Chajing Keithel.

Notably, a protest demonstration was staged against the killing of Rakesh at Lilong Chajing Keithel today.

According to Haorung-bam Ibohal, uncle of the deceased (mother's brother), Rakesh was a salesman of PT Marketing, Khoyathong.

He was apprehended by suspected police commandos from near his residential gate in the night of February 23. Even as a report was filed at Singjamei police station on the next day, whereabouts of Rakesh could not be traced.

The killing of Rakesh was confirmed only today after checking at RIMS morgue based on the news report published today, Ibohal said.

The corpse is still lying at RIMS mortuary unclaimed.

On the other hand, corpse of the suspected UG cadre shot dead by troops of 8 AR at Gamngai area of Chandel district on February 18 has been handed over to IMC for disposal.

In a similar case, corpses of the two UG suspects slain by troops of 29 AR at Ma-ringthel under Tengnoupal police station on February 14 have also been disposed as the same could not be identified.
