Imphal, August 23 2009: The proscribed KCP (MC) has claimed responsibility for the grenade attack at Chamber Hospital on August 21 .

A press release issued by the outfit's information and public relation officer, Puranthaba, asserted that the grenade attack was undertaken to teach a lesson for not following the rules and regulations set by the party for private clinics and hospitals.

Claiming that the grenade attack was undertaken by three of its cadres, the outfit clarified that IRB Rifleman Tayenjam Munal of Yairipok Yambam was not related to the party.

The claim that Munal lobbed the grenade under instruction from KCP (MC) was a ploy to divert public attention from the ongoing movement against the July 23 fake encounter, it alleged.

Saying that all the three cadres who undertook the attack have reached their camp safe and sound, the outfit accused Chief Minister O Ibobi of making the people of Manipur sacrificial lambs.

It further informed that nine cadres of KCP (Noyon faction) led by comrade Leijing have joined the party as they felt disillusioned with the leadership of their parent outfit.

After they were accorded a warm reception, Leijing has been appointed the outfit's Imphal West district commander, it conveyed.
