NSUC urges all to defuse tension

Imphal, May 20: Joining other Naga bodies in sharing the pains and sorrows over the loss of human lives involving innocent lives due to armed clashes in and around Dimapur in Nagaland, the Naga Students' Union, Chandel (NSUC) has on Tuesday appealed all Naga civil bodies to take pro-active role of peace makers and defuse tension at this 'critical juncture'.

In a press statement, the NSUC president SK Stephen said that the NSUC commits stand firm to the cause of the ongoing peace process of healing and reconciliation within the Naga family while terming the loss of lives and targeting of a particular community as 'unfortunate'.

The statement while saying that it is unfortunate that the lives and properties of a particular community or tribe are being targeted due to the armed clash between Naga militant groups in Dimapur, it also appealed all Naga social organizations including the Naga Hoho, Naga Students' Federation (NSF), Naga Mother's Association (NMA), Eastern Naga People Organisation (ENPO), Naga People Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR), United Naga Council (UNC), All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Women's Union, Manipur (NWUM), Churches leaders and other mass based organizations to play a peace maker role in shaping the society as the leaders had sacrificed for the Nagas.

The NSUC further urged the Nagaland government to bring about peaceful environment of co-existence by providing security to all concerns.
