Imphal, July 15: Appeals to lift the current economic blockade imposed by ANSAM continued to flood in with bodies urging both the State Government and the student body to hold talks in order to ease inconveniences faced by the people due to food shortages.

Observing that the ongoing impasse could engulf not only Manipur but the entire North Eastern region into an ethnic crisis if it persist Committee on Protection of Territorial Integrity of Manipur, Thoubal district expressed that time had come for establishing a highway that could be protected from agitators.

Taking serious note of Nagaland based NGOs joining the economic blockade stir which is an internal affair of Manipur, the Committee asserted that holding the general public to ransom by banning movement of goods along the NH-39 in the future should be realised by the State Government sooner than later and take appropriate steps to open an alternative route.

Expressing similar sentiment and appealing to all section of the society to refrain from action that could strain the age-old relationship All Jiribam United Club's Association desired that both ANSAM and the State Govt relax their current posture to find an amicable solution to the problem.
