Imphal, June 14: Besides firing several rounds at the Thoubal Ningombam residence of Ningombam Gojendro by some unidentified persons at about 11.45 last night, a bomb was lobbed towards the house.

According to information received from family members, the unidentified gun men first fired a single shot from Ningombam Utha Leirak located behind the house of Gojendro.

After a gap of about 30 minutes, sounds of vehicle horns could be heard, prompting the police personnel posted there to fire a single shoot.

In the next moment, the house came under firing attack from both the front and back directions.

Even though a sound of something falling on the tin roof of the house could heard amidst the gunfire, the family members looked for it only this morning during which an Indian made hand grenade was found at the backyard, they conveyed.

The hand grenade was retrieved by explosive experts of Manipur police.

SP Thoubal and the Thoubal OC came and inspected the site today.
