Imphal, December 04: Traffic along the National Highway 39 (Imphal-Moreh Road) remained affected for almost 2 hours today following detection of an object suspected to be a bomb inside a pothole of the road next to a brick field in between Khongjom and Wangjing.

The suspected bomb which ultimately turned out to be a hoax was detected by an ROP team of the Assam Rifles.

Reports received from the site of the incident said that at around 8 am today, the Assam Rifles personnel who were on ROP duty detected a suspicious object lying inside the pothole with mud covering it and a portruding wire attached to it.

The area was immediately cordoned off and vehicular traffic coming from both sides of the road stopped till the arrival of bomb squad from Imphal.

The bomb squad arrived at around 10 am and subsequently found out that it was only an empty container with an electric wire attached to it.
