MLAs issue peace call to people

Imphal, November 30: While observing that there can be no development in a society without there is peace, Ukhrul A/C MLA Danny Shaiza has given a clarion call to all the people for working toward restoration of peace and normalcy in Manipur.

Speaking at the occasion of inauguration of a community hall constructed with fund from his Local Area Development Fund at Lamlai Chingphei village today, the MLA said with reports of killing and violence becoming the order of day, the life of the people in Manipur are very uncertain today.

In such a situation, all the communities living in Manipur should strive hard for restoration of peace and harmony.

He hoped that the communal hall which was inaugurated today would stand as an embodiment of the legacy of peaceful co-existence among all the communities.

The inauguration function of the community hall coincided with the 16th foundation day of Lamlai Chingphei Youth Club as well.

Attending the function as chief guest, Danny Shaiza further pointed out that Manipur has not been able to join in the race of development being witnessed the whole over mainly due to some sort of misunderstanding among the various communities over the past few years.

But the time has come now to forget and give each other of the past mistakes and start living together in peace and harmony.

In his presidential address of the function, Singhat A/C MLA Thangso Baite pointed out that involvement of all the people and constant communication on any issues of the State is essential.

This would help in cementing the bond among the various groups of people living in Manipur since time immemorial.

As part of the function, cultural troupes of various communities performed dances.

Chief guest and president of the function also presented gifts to elder members of the village and sports materials and two Petromax to the youth club.
