Imphal, November 27 2009: United Committee Manipur (UCM) and Ethno Heritage Council (HERICOUN) condemned the killing of former chief of Thayong village, Riyamkhup alias Akhup Kom in front of his family members by unidentified gunmen on the night of November 25 .

Terming the incident as an inhuman act, HERICOUN in a press release said that every section of the society must find a way out not to happen such brutal killings in future.

Remebering the deceased as a person who worked hard to bring communal harmony, HERICOUN shared grief with the bereaved family as well.

While condemning the incident UCM in a press release said that some SoO signatory UG outfits have been constantly violating the SoO ground rules.

As the State Government fails to take up actions against such violations, UCM said, people are apprehensive whether the State Government is conspiring with these UG outfits to harass its own people.

UCM further said that State and Central Governments must be responsible for all these untoward incidents.

It also said that Government must book the involved culprits and provide adequate compensation to the victims.
