Kohima, May 27: In an encouraging development brought about by the Gaonburas and Dobashis (GBs and DBs) Joint Forum of Nagaland on Tuesday in Kohima to end the blood-shed in Naga areas, it has been resolved that all the Naga undeground groups will be asked to agree to a one year term ceasefire among them starting from June 7, 2008 to which the underground organisations have supported the decision.

Tuesday's Nagaland Joint Forum of GBs and DBs meeting held at Red Cross Building in Kohima has been attended by representatives of the Naga Hoho, Eastern Naga People's Organisation (ENPO), NNC/FGN, NSCN faction led by Khaplang, Nagaland Baptist Churches Council (NBCC) and GBs and DBs of all the Nagaland districts.

According to the Joint Forum of GBs and DBs of Nagaland, the leaders of NSCN led by Isak-Muivah has intimated to them that the outfit would be a party to the decision taken by the meeting today.The NSCN-IM representatives could not attend Tuesday's meeting as the outfit was holding a "Central body meeting", according to the Joint Forum of GBs and DBs.

The Naga Students Federation (NSF) and Naga Mothers' Association (NMA) who could not attent today's meting have also intimated to the Joint Forum of GBs and DBs of Nagaland that the two organisations would support the resolutions taken by the house, according to the Forum of the GBs and DBs.

After signing the June 7 ceasefire agrement among the Naga militant factions, the GBs and DBs Joint Forum will take up initiatives to bring the leaders of all the Naga underground groups to a meeting During the inter-factional ceasefire, the joint forum will take the initiative to bring top leaders from all groups together to a meeting and deliberate on important matters such as to work towards a harmonious and peaceful approach to the political Naga issue.

Tuesday's meeting has reaffirmed the 5-point resolutions adopted earlier on June 6, 2007, including condemnation of factional violence and cessation of fratricidal killings and bloodshed among the Naga underground groups and to stop targeting the civilians.

Chairman of GBs and DBs Joint Forum of Nagaland K Vikuto Zhimomi and its convenor A Taku Longkumer, vice chairman T Siyang Chang and secretary Lungrahei Herie in a joint press release this evening said that the meeting resolved all to appeal all the Naga underground groups to start initiating means for the peaceful co-existence among themselves and to allow the peaceful atmosphere to reign again in the Naga society.

The Kohima meeting also pledged to maintain strict adherence to ceasefire ground rules by factions in letter and spirit.

The meeting also resolved that violation of ceasefire by any group would be dealt with as per customary law, through the district forum and at the state level.

Nagaland Commissioner, H..KKhulu also addressed the joint meeting.
