Imphal, June 07 2009: Sit-in demonstrations in denunciation of alleged extra-judicial killing of loitongbam Satish by security force personnel were held at Singjamei and kongba areas today.

During the protest hours shops and market places remained shut at these places while the protestors reiterated demand for punishment of the security personnel involved in the elimination of Satish, was from Singjamei oinam Leikai.

mention may be made that Satish along with a companion was allegedly apprehended by some persons suspected to be security force personnel on May 16 afternoon from near Sajiwa Jail.

Two days later, police claimed Satish to have been killed in an encounter with a combined team of Thoubal police commandos and troops of 23 Assam Rifles at near Laikot ching (hill range).

Consequently, Gunendro Pebia, who was apprehended along with Satish but handed over to the police by the combined team as a PLA cadre has been released on bail by a court.
