Meet discusses present condition of NH-53

Imphal, July 05 2010: A one-day discussion on "Present condition of New Cachar Road (NH-53)" held at Wangoi Bazar today resolved to press the government to develop the highway as permanent lifeline of the state among others.

The discussion session was organised by the People Protection and Development Committee, Wangoi.

Other resolution passed in the meet included to extend solidarity with the decision of the Transporters and Drivers Council not to ply the NH-39 unless and until authorities concern take up appropriate measures to control extortion by undergrounds on the NH-39 and assured of safeguarding the life of the highway travelers and appealed to the traders and businessmen to stop hiking of prices of goods taking advantage of problems on the highways in procuring the items.

In the discussion session presided over by the president of the PPDC, Thounaojam Manglem, lecturer of Nambol Higher Secondary School, Moirangthem Romesh, social activists Mutum Churamani and columnist Nabakumar talked on the developing situation of the state in the aftermath of the economic blockade.
