Imphal, February 04 2009: Out of three UG suspects slain in gunfights with security forces at two locations yesterday identity of two have been established.

Two of the UG suspects were gun-downed during an encounter at Kangchup Makhom village area with one the deceased identified as Brahmacharimayum Sanjit Sharma (20) s/o (L) L Amuba of Wangjing Lamding Laishram Leikai.

Sanjit reportedly left home about three months ago and intimated to his family members of working in a motor workshop at Moirang during the intervening period.

Family sources also informed of Sanjit conveying that he would be visiting his elder brother who is running a hotel in Nagaland.

the third victim suspected to be a KCP (MC) cadre killed by Imphal East district police commandos at Khurai Salanthong Leirak last night has been identified as one Chanam Ibomcha alias Kamal alias Devdas (33) s/o Ch Bira of Ishok Awang Leikai.

Having left home about 10 years back, Devdas was earlier apprehended and jailed as an RPF/PLA activist before joining the proscribed KYKL and then re-arrested for his association with the banned UNLF organisation, according to family sources.

Even though family members assume that Devdas was still a UNLF activist a demand note of the KCP-MC (Lamyanba Khuman group) was allegedly recovered by the police commandos from his possession after the shoot-out.
