Imphal, November 03 2009: Reacting to the press release issued by the proscribed UNLF which accused Assam Rifles of eliminating seven persons in a fake encounter at Andro Sanapat, the PRO of Hqs IG AR (South) has countercharged the militant outfit of trying to mislead the public.

In a press release, the PRO re-asserted that the militants were killed after a gun-fight lasting for 2-3 hours.

If in the same firefight even if one soldier of security forces was hurt, the outfits would exaggerate the claim for showing off to the public.

As regard the claim that two of the slain militants were innocent civilians, the PRO asked what these individuals with weapons and ammunition were doing with the militants in those areas while participating in the fire fight with security forces.
